Some days, it seems all I do is meet with people. Despite the fact that meetings fill my calendar and take valuable time, meetings are part of the work. On top of client (my favorite), software partner and team meetings, I’ve instituted a new set of meetings – weekly one-on-ones with each of our managers.
During these one-on-one meetings, we brainstorm answers to difficult decisions in the department, such as how to communicate a new policy or defining new procedures. We also go through the To-Do List. This conversation forces my managers to create one if they didn’t have it already, and to be accountable on a regular basis.
My hope is this collaborative process will allow for open discussion about what gets in the way of getting things done so that we, as a company, can continue to grow. It is worth the time it takes to meet with everyone.
